Southern Nevada Children’s First benefit held at The Ridges in Summerlin
Southern Nevada Children First hosted their 3rd Annual Artfully Sweet event at an exclusive estate at the Ridges in Summerlin. The event will include desserts and pastries from some of Las Vegas’ premium pastry chefs, artwork from international and local artists, live performances from Cirque du Soleil’s syncronized swimmers, hand balancing act Christopher Jones and the hoop artistry of Elena Lev.
Live auction items included art work from master landscape photographer Peter Lik and Richard MacDonald among others.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Southern Nevada Children First provide long-term transitional living and life skills training to homeless pregnant and parenting teens and young adults. Read the rest of this entry »
Rio Hotel & Casino
The 7th annual Go Red For Women luncheon was held at the Rio Hotel and Casino for the many supporters and champions of the Las Vegas American Heart Association. The luncheon’s goal was to educate women and men alike about the heart health as well as to band together in an effort to wipe out heart disease and stroke.
The event featured shopping and wellness booths educating those in attendance about staying healthy through lifestyle changes, a silent auction, a health conscious lunch sponsored by Weight Watchers of Las Vegas and entertainment by Vegas entertainer Rick Faugno. Channel 3 TV anchor Maria Mortera emceed the event joined by 2012 Go Red For Women chairwoman Dawn Gibbons. Passion speaker Mary Jackson and keynote speaker Dr. Mitchel Forman highlighted the luncheon with words of passion, encouragement, strength, tenacity and humor.

Lied Discovery Children’s Museum hosts their 29th Annual Fantasy Gala costume benefit at the Mirage Casino Resort
The gala’s theme was “Dream of the Possibilities” and featured signature cocktails, silent and live auction and live entertainment by musical group, Harbor Lights.
The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation received this year’s Great Friend to Kids Award for their contribution and gift to the Smith Center for the Performing Arts which will be the new Lied Museum home scheduled to open November 2012.
The museum is open daily (closed on Monday) and has tons of kid friendly exhibits and attractions to explore from music, to arts & science, nature and so much more.

Benefit Gala at the Palms Casino Resort
Founded in 1961, the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas celebrated 50 years of service to youth with a Vintage Vegas themed gala. The gala featured a live and silent auction and live entertainment by Vegas performers, “The Rat Pack” and was held in the ballroom of the Palms Casino Resort.
The evening will raise money for all eight Las Vegas Clubhouse locations throughout the area, allowing the Boys & Girls Club to continue to reach and impact the 14,000 young people that are served annually.

Spread The Word Nevada hosts Storybook Gala
The gala’s theme was childhood literacy and books with a good dose of fun tossed in which is of course the mission of Spread The Word Nevada. Emcee Kendall Tenney of 10e Public Relations hosted the event which was held at the Venetian Hotel and Casino. The evening featured a silent auction, dinner & live auction with celebrity auctioneer, Christian Kolberg, plus a surprise flash mob performance.
Spread The Word Nevada’s is dedicated to advancing childhood literacy by placing books into the hands and homes of young children. Kids to Kids is one of Spread the Word Nevada’s flagship programs and they also sponsor Breakfast with Books and Books & Buddies.

“It’s in the Bag” Luncheon and Silent Auction
Las Vegas Philharmonic guild members and guests, enjoyed a lovely luncheon at Cili’s Restaurant located at the Bali Hai Golf Club. The fundraising event featured a silent auction with colorful designer handbags and purses.
Proceeds from the event will help support the upcoming 2011 – 2012 philharmonic concert series.
A delicious dinner and a fun evening of dancing make this year’s Heart Ball 2011the perfect celebration of sharing and caring. Heart Ball chair, Richard J. Rizzo, Vice Chairman of Perini Building company, opened the dinner portion of the evening by thanking the audience for the generosity and support of the Las Vegas American Heart Association.
“We are here tonight to celebrate their success in the lifesaving efforts that take place here in Southern Nevada everyday in part because of their efforts,” says Rizzo. “All of you in this room are the very pillars upon which our community stands and I am truly grateful you have chosen to support an organization so very dear to my heart.”
The Mirage Hotel and Casino was the setting for the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Heart Association’s major fundraiser of the year. Hosted by News 3 anchors Kim and Dana Wagner the purpose of the evening was to recognize donors, volunteers and individuals impacted by heart disease.
Wearing a pink dress and a flowered head-band, special guest ten-month old Lola Blanche Worthen enjoyed the evening celebration along with her mother Lindsey Worthen, who delivered an inspirational story about Lola’s journey and eventual triumph over her battle with a congenital heart defect. Several surgeries later, Lola is a bright-eyed, happy little girl.
An emotional Lindsey Worthen talked about what it meant to have the support of the American Heart Association. “One thing I do know is that the American Heart Association played an important role in the research that helped repair Lola’s heart,” says Worthen.
Auctioneer, Christian Kolberg lead the live auction for the evening helping to raise funds for the evening. The silent auction featured more than 50 items and baskets from David Yurman, Harley Davidson, Judith Leiber, Red Rock Casino Resort, and Tommy Bahama to name a few.
This event celebrated the countless lives that have been saved and improved by the efforts of those involved with the American Heart Association. The proceeds raised from the Las Vegas Heart Ball will go towards the organizations mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
