The first week of spring brought temperatures in the 80’s to the Las Vegas area as well as a sizzling fashion presentation and runway show courtesy of KAUFMANFRANCO designers. Held at Neiman Marcus inside the newly opened Vintner Grill Strip restaurant the event was co-hosted by Madeleine Andress, Joele Corrigan and Wendy Plaster to raise funds for Nevada Ballet Theater.
The design team of KAUFMANFRANCO featured their high-end haute collection for the season with Franco himself hosting the runway show. Delighting the crowd, models walked the runway showcasing stunningly sexy, yet elegantly simple gowns, sequined dresses, luscious knitwear and sumptuous belted jackets in black, graphite and rich earth tones.  Fabrics ranged from the lightest of leather to the most delicate webbed mohair.
KAUFMANFRANCO designs have been gracing the red carpet for years with celebrities the likes of Halle Berry, Christina Aguillera and Taylor Swift who stole the show wearing a navy blue gown by KAUFMANFRANCO at the 2010 Grammy Awards.
Nevada Ballet Theatre is the largest professional ballet company and dance academy in the state and will be the resident company of the new world-class Smith Center for the Performing Arts when it is completed in 2012. For more information about NBT please visit the web at www.nevadaballet.org.

A Presley Family Affair

Priscilla Presley’s family joined her as she received her Woman of the Year honor at the Nevada Ballet Theatre’s Black and White Ball held at the Aria Convention Center. The four generation family affair included daughter, Lisa Marie Presley who surprised her mother by flying in from London with husband Michael Lockwood, her son, Navarone Garibaldi and grandaughter, Riley Keough. Priscilla’s mother, Ann Beulieu, her sister, Michelle Beauleiu-Hovey and other relatives and friends came for the event.

A VIP pre-event reception hosted by event sponsor Cartier was held at Crystal at the City Center. Legendary rocker Vince Neil of Motley Crue paid homage to Presley with a heartwarming speech. Nigel Lythgoe of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ was on hand to deliver a tribute to longtime friend and honoree, Presley and welcomed her to the stage to receive her honor. “I must admit I am a bit nervous” said Lythgoe. “She is such a good friend I just want to do a great job and not mess up.”

Presley was visibly moved during her impromtu speech as she recounted days gone by when, as a young girl she longed to be a dancer and how that dream was never fulfilled. She also spoke of her commitment to performing arts and how important the all of the arts are to give youngsters a solid future.

This marks the 27th year for one of the Las Vegas area’s highly anticipated fundraising events of the season. Guests in attendance at the Black and White Ball were treated to a live performance featuring highlights of NBT’s upcoming 2011 season. This Ball helps support Nevada Ballet Theatre efforts to present professional dance productions to the Las Vegas community.

This years event raised more than their goal at $155,000 with these funds going to kick off NBT’s Live Music Fund when the company makes their move over the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. NBT will be a resident company of the world-class Smith Center which is set to open in 2012.

Buon Giorno!

When I got the call to photograph executive chefs Carlo and Antonio for

the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas I couldn’t wait. Afterall, any chance to

photograph and talk with fellow Italians is exciting enough, but given the

chance to talk about fine food was the recipe for a perfect day.
